Demolition
continues!
Demolition of the interior
of the Young School continued when volunteers from W.R. King Contracting
of Overland Park, KS met at the school; along with LHYCSC Board Members to
remove items previously stored in the building, old doors, dated heating
system materials, chalkboards, and old shelving. Volunteers spent
most of the day removing these items and cleaning the building. A
second demolition will be scheduled to remove the remaining items from
the bathrooms, lower level area and most of the old electrical
system. LHYCSC board member Paulette Detillier volunteered to take on the
majority of the demolition responsibility as a LHYCSC Board of
Directors' self-help project and thus far has filled two large
containers with items slated for the landfill. She estimates the
value of this self-help has reached well within the $12-15,000 range;
all a definite savings for the project.
